BACKGROUND

Data is not the new oil. Oil gets extracted, refined and burned — it disappears in use. Data is different. It is an evolving living record of human behaviour, decisions and desire. Every click, search, purchase and scroll leaves a mark. Most people never see it.

We built an experience to change that.

Challenge

People don't understand their data portrait — who shapes it, whose blind spots it inherits — they can't question it, correct it or claim it.

Solution

When design digital products and services, ask what kind of portrait are you painting and do the people in it recognise themselves?

Impact

April 2026, when I teamed up with Eliisa and Iris to present at Mimmit koodaa's Design, Data & Sustainability event — drawing 1,473 registrants. Our argument: data is not raw material. It is a portrait of people.
